Fairfield Parent Cooperative Preschool
The Fairfield Parent Preschool began in February 1963. The first classes were held at the Calvary Baptist Church in Fairfield under the direction of the Armijo Joint Union High School Adult Education Program. The preschool became a non-profit corporation in 1968 and after several moves found a permanent home at our current location on Nightingale Dr. In 2003 the preschool celebrated it's 40th anniversary being a part of the community.
As a cooperative school Fairfield Parent Preschool is different than traditional preschools because parents are highly involved in their preschooler's education. Parental involvement includes working in the school one day a week, attending monthly parent meetings, committee work and participating in monthly fundraising.
Connecting with your child is a rewarding aspect of a co-op. Knowing your child's teacher, friends and their families creates an intimate involvement that no other preschool can offer. We are a close community of parents and children who thrive on working together for a common goal: To have fun while learning! Members of parent-operated co-op schools praise the hands-on learning environment, dedicated parental involvement and affordability.
We offer a variety of activities that encourage play, learning and exploration such as: Arts & Crafts, Music Time, Role Play/Dress-Up, Story Time, Manipulatives/Puzzles, Construction, Special Projects, Cooking Projects, Group Circle and Outside Play.
Group circle provides interactive learning of numbers, letters, colors, shapes, seasons, days of the week and months of the year. We also take an average of 5 field trips each year, including the Pumpkin Patch, Christmas tree farm and the fire station. These trips expose the children to many learning opportunities.
